When doping Cu or Al on TiO2 does it change the structure of materials?
Cu or Al doped on titania often form compounds of new interesting properties, different of the components, due to their structures, that can be tailored by the compositions and thermal treatments (see Appl. Surf. Sci. 382 (2016) 170, Ceram. Int. 41 (2015) 13702)
If size of the doping material is larger then size of host material then it should change for example in my case when CDs was doped with different lanthanide at constant temperature and pH value the sample changed its crystal structure from cubic to hexagonal but other factors like temperature and pH etc also counts
Hi Mabkhoot.., in addition to those previous answers,.... TiO2 itself, existed as anatase, rutile, bookite and others. If someone doped oxide-metal into TiO2...it can be happened that metal dopant inserted to void - unit cell of TiO2 ( depends on the size of dopant, normally smaller than void volume of TiO2 ), this can cause the elongation of one or two parameters ( a or b and c) : rutile to bookite structure. Another, If the energy was sufficient, for those dopants, it can form a compound such as AlTiO3 or Al2TiO5, and CuTiO3. Or if there is no bond-contact to TiO2, it will form CuO or Cu2O / TiO2 and Al2O3/TiO2.

Hi Mabkhoot Alsaiari, It depends on the size of dopants metal oxide you used in hosting materials and the structure will change with shifting peaks in XRD patterns.
Material type is very important in this case and percentage of dopping also important.
