Borderline Personality Disorder is very difficult to treat;working on reducing its predisposing factor may help preventing its occurrence.Since,childhood trauma has been associated with multiple psychiatric conditions, including anti-social personality disorder, my research question would be to find its association with Borderline Personality Disorder.

if you're up for an intellectual challenge, you might want to check out the discussion in the following book: Benjamin, L. S. (1996). Interpersonal diagnosis and treatment of personality disorders (2nd ed.). New York: Guilford Press. Benjamin notes that childhood abuse is linked to various personality disorders, the exact nature of which will be determined by the nature of the interpersonal relationship around the abuse. Lorna Benjamin's model, the Structural Analysis of Social Behavior, specifies the particular interpersonal context for each of the symptoms defining the respective personality disorders. For example, the anger in BPD is triggered by feelings of neglect & abandonment; inspired by panic. The anger in HPD is used to force praise, admiration, and nurturance. Anger in ASP is cold & functional, executed to maintain or demonstrate control or distance, without remorse for damage inflicted. The NPD feels entitled, is angry when needs are not automatically filled. Benjamin also discusses the different interpersonal situations around suicidality. Thus, for the borderline suicidality and self-mutilation are "set off by perceived abandonment in a predictable pattern: Perceived abandonment is followed by intense devaluation of self and of the allegedly abandoning other, and by social withdrawal. The escalating tension can be relieved temporarily by well-focused attack on the self, as in cutting, burning, overdosing, or the like. Once the suicidal ideation begins, the process that began with the interpersonal event of perceived abandonment becomes intrapsychic. Vicious internal thoughts (sometimes voices) irrationally demand that there be blood, pain, or bodily harm. There is temporary relief following that self-harm" (p. 126). This is quite different from suicidality in HPD. In both cases it is triggered by "failed caregiving and perceived lack of attention.The HPD's suicidal activity will be well controlled and geared toward coercing more and better nurturance. ,,, This form of suicidality is controlled and should be interpreted as an interpersonal event. By contrast, the BPD's attempt will be more reckless, autistic, and internally directed" (pp. 173-174). What you must wrestle with in examining this question is the fact that childhood abuse can lead to all sorts of disorders, it may be necessary but by itself is not a sufficient condition for BPD, which emerges from a complex interpersonal matrix.
