I will have numerous soil samples/rice rhizosphere sample to characterise as part of the rice microbiome study. I was told that there are ISE electrodes that can be used to measure ammonia, nitrate, potassium, sodium, calcium concentration in the solutions, and can be used among other for soils samples characterization.

I would like to set up this technology in the lab (we are microbiology lab in Burkina Faso, not always easy to work, and difficult to obtain trouble-shooting service) to decrease the cost of classical soil characterisation. I wonder if this type of material is robust, and what are the advantages and drawbacks of using for example Orion Star™ A214 pH/ISE Benchtop Meter or Orion™ Versa Star Pro™ pH/ISE Benchtop Multiparameter Meter. Does anyone have experience with this type of electrodes?

Thanks in advance for your help.
