Does anyone use hydrogen during the laser ablation in hellium atmosphere for increasing sensivity and what rough ratio of hellium to hydrogen flow is more suitable?
It is the method well-developed in ETH, Zurich. Ask Seo, Jung Hun ([email protected]) who is ex-PhD student in the group of Heinrich, Christoph A.. I remember that they add "a small amount of H2 gas (5 ml/min.) into the He carrier stream increases the sensitivity of most elements, in particular for some economically important metals
such as Cu, Au, and Mo". See the article attached. I guess, you should be very careful with H2 gas.
Thank you very much. I think it will help a lot. There is a hope that adding hydrogen will able us to obtain data about low concentration of REE in some minerals like olivine and plagioclase in volcanic rocks.
