Qualitative descriptive is a less common approach in qualitative research that has been attributed to Sandelowsky (2000) but she denied it her 2010 article. I have been looking but I can find who “created” the method.
This form of inquiry is mainly used in the health fields. I don't know if it's as important to know the "who" as much as the "why" in this case. In public health you need to collect both experiences of folks under treatment as well as to be able to statistically provide some of the findings. It's a very flexible research design that uses content analysis for the data analysis portion of the study.
