I experiment the synthesis of the two isomers of dichlorobis(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III) chloride.
The two isomers have different colors; the trans isomer is green, while the cis isomer is purple in color.
to check uv- visible spectrum.i make trans isomer and cis isomer
after 2days, i realized that trans sample's color is changed.
i dont know why color changed from green to red
if anyone know this phenomenon, please tell me!!!

My initial guess it that your cobalt(III) ions have been reduced to cobalt(II), but I am sure there are other possibilities. Also, isn't there a third isomer, though I doubt it will cause a colour shift.
Your "dilemma" is similar to Alfred Werner's determiniation of coordination. I think you will find his 1913 Nobel Lecture interesting (see link).
