Cellulose pulp is the waste and residual material of paper industry. When cellulose pulp convert into cellulose micro fibrils or cellulose nano crystal. So it is useful product for chemical laboratories.
Cellulose pulp is not a waste of the paper industry. It is the product of the paper industry. One company I know produces and sells NCC is Cellu Force from Canada. They are currently producing the product as an enforcing agent in many materials. Future prospects of the NCC (nano-crystalline cellulose) may be fairly bright. Some of the possible futureapplications are nano-composite films, in drug delivery, protein immmobilization, nano-structure via NCC templating, irridescent films to biomolecular NMR contrast agents, mechanical enforcing agent in many materials. Paper industry must be involved in the production of NCC and NFC, Because they already know the feedstock, they have the infrastructure and have the best expertise in the cellulose area. They also need the cash that would be made from new value added products such as NCC
