Heinrich events occurred when iceberg armadas mostly from the Laurentian ice sheet spread across the north Atlantic depositing ice-rafted detritus (IRD) on the seafloor. It is argued that when the icebergs melt the fresh water on the surface of the ocean halts the thermohaline circulation (THC) preventing the warm water of the Gulf Stream from entering the Arctic. This causes cooling in Greenland and northwestern Europe. But ice cores show that these events cause warming. Is there a peer-reviewed model which explains that anomaly?
