Does anyone know non-enzymatic method for extraction biologically active substances?

I am searching for simple non-enzymatic model solution for extraction of bioactive compounds, that approximate at least to some point human digestive tract. In previous research I used TRIS-HCl, NH4-acetate buffers, and of course water methanol solution, for extraction of low molecular weight bioactive compounds. I am searching for natural chelators, and radical scavengers in natural products. Could I obtain better results with other solutions?
