New research indicates that children growing up on livestock farms are at higher risk of some cancers. Other studies show that workers at slaughtering and processing plants also at high cancer risk. Neither study rules out exposure to viruses as the cause. If viruses transmit better at the population densities in concentrated animal feeding operations, there might be a higher density. Does anyone know?

In the case of slaughterhouses, the authors speculated that it was from blood mixing in cuts of workers hands. But as far as I'm aware, specific exposure hypotheses were not explored in the works that I mentioned. Thanks for this article.
