I am testing J20 mice (AD model) in the Y-maze and I would like to see the progression of the cognitive decline by testing at early and late stages of the amyloidosis pathology. However I have not been able to find any paper describing the repetitive use of the Y-maze test. I was wondering whether someone knows if mice can be re-tested after a few months or if the re-exposure to the same test could be a confounding factor for the analysis.

Of course you can perform Y-maze test repeatedly on mice at specific time point you want. And the previous tests do have effects on the following tests. So you need to find a way to exclude the difference out of that. But a repeat measured behavioral tests may give you a time depended changes on your research.
So according to my opinion, you should get your project well designed and think about the time point that make sense.
P.S. I have a paper which is under consideration about repeated measures designed behavioral tests. But ironically, the paper has been rejected by several journals. So make your decision.
