Just wondering if anyone here knows by chance how to install Octave in Fedora. I am going to post this in Fedora Forum as well, but sometimes the answers there are are too technical and assume some background of Linux, which I do not have, except for opening a terminal window. Any help in terms of commands in the terminal window would help. Thanks in advance.
dnf is indeed the natural way to install a package and its dependencies in Fedora.
However, don't forget that you need to have root privileges. Therefore, you can for instance use the "su" command in the terminal. Enter the root password, and then use
#dnf install octave
An alternative way is to use the "software" application, which has a graphical user interface.
Thanks to all of you. "dnf install octave" worked. It was installed, and due to some reason it is not launching. Looks like I will have to reload the OS. And then I know how to install it. Presently I am back to Windows where it is working. Thank you very much.
