I have no idea about the research on changing university lecturer to become more interactive in their teaching. However, I had chances to train that kind of tecturers several years ago. Under USAID funded project, namely Decentralized Basic Education project, we trained the teacher on how to teach their students using Student Active Learning (SAL) approach.
We trained them using the same SAL approach. They are encouraged to actively participate in the training.
In the beginning, they were unhappy. They expected that we will explain ways to lecture. But, having experienced the SAL approach, finally they realize the positive things of SAL, and willing to teach their students using SAL approach.
Although I am not involved anymore in the current USAID funded project, namely PRIORITAS, this SAL approach is still used in training university lecturers around Indonesia.
It seems that
LECTURERS NEED TO EXPERIENCE SAL FIRST IF WE EXPECT THEM TO CHANGE THEIR LECTURING APPROACH INTO SAL APPROACH.
