I constructed Mg buffering capacity curves for different types of tropical soils and found that these soils prefer Mg than K. I want to explain why is that.
This may happen when soils contain low charge smectite that has no K selectivity. The information of soils with regard to the CEC of soils and clays may throw some light on the composition of clay minerals. Please check also the % of K saturation of the soil CEC. If it is too low that indicates soils have negligible vermiculite, which is the only K fixer in soils.
