There are a lot of bacteria out there in the soil, in animals, everywhere. Some common genera in microbiology are Bacillus, Micrococcus, Streptococcus, Staphyloccus, Streptomyces, Pseudomonas, Vibrio, Escherichia, Mycobacteria, Clostridia, etc ...

Generally microbiologists should remember the morphology, gram staining identity, and oxygen requirements of the common bacteria, but most of the flowcharts and tables I've seen online seem to be missing many popular bacteria. Still the identification of bacteria can be difficult when you identity an endospore producing gram positive, anaerobic curved rod bacteria. If it's a curved rod so you would think vibrio, but most vibrio genera are gram negative bacteria.

If you have any flowcharts, tables, spreadsheets, articles of bacteria genera properties which you can figure out without molecular analysis, then I would appreciate you sharing them.

Thanks.
