I have found one paper relating to altered CYP24A1 metabolism in South Asians in the USA compared with caucasian populations.

This paper was focused on a white only and male US population group but the findings of two CYP24a1 gene variants - one affecting dietary acaquired vitamin D3 and the other affecting skin synthesised / metabolised D3.
