I understand with MSW you mean household waste, no separate collection of organics? AFAIK Biodiesel plants use fat from grease traps, restaurant leftovers and other, more concentrated, organic waste sources.
I'll see if I find a detailed MSW analysis at work next week.
Two documents are ATTACHED. One is MSW report (2014) from EPA broken down by category for many years. One is pure food waste collected in San Francisco sources.. If food waste is approximately 30% fat, then you can get a crude estimate.
Edward: This is a link to the waste composition study conducted in Montgomery County, Maryland. I'm afraid it doesn't have the level of detail you want re: lipids. But, thought you might be interested, nonetheless. Sara
