I am teaching a undergraduate level Biochem Lab course. The first part of the labs are protocol-based experiments (protein extraction, purification, quantification and activity measurement). The remaining part will give students opportunities to put their topics of interest into their own mini projects, which will utilize the skills they have learned before. I will provide some topics for them as options if they don't have any ideas.

Here I am seeking any topics or experiments that are related to simple brain protein extraction and activity measurement. Does anyone have a mature protocol that fits in undergraduate level course?

In our teaching lab, we have sonicator, water bath, centrifuge, spectrometer, PCR, SDS gel apparatus, plate reader, Mass spec.

I will be appreciated if you share any of your ideas. Thank you.
