There are two packages that are worth considering. One is called FaceReader 5.0 (http://www.noldus.com/human-behavior-research/products/facereader) We used FaceReader and it was quite accurate for happiness, but less accurate for other emotions unless they are very stereotypical (eyes wide open, etc.). It can provide a real-time analysis. The other is Emotient ( http://www.emotient.com/ ) We have not used it, but it looks quite similar to FaceReader. The disadvantage of both packages is their crazy, unreasonable price. You can order a free trial for both packages if you want to try if they work well for you.
Emotient was great (and still are for those that has it I guess) but Apple bought it and too it off market.
But others are moving into the business. Look at this to see some options. http://nordicapis.com/20-emotion-recognition-apis-that-will-leave-you-impressed-and-concerned/
Wanted to download Intraface only for academic research Purpose. But, it read as Not Available for Download! which other software are free and easily accessible for facial expression analysis?
you might be interested in "OpenFace", which is an open source toolkit, which analyzes facial landmarks, head pose, facial action units, and eye-gaze. The wiki on github provides information on how to install and use it on different platforms: https://github.com/TadasBaltrusaitis/OpenFace
In my opinion, it's a pretty decent alternative to commercial products (even though I haven't compared performance yet). link to publication: http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7477553/
Intraface was burried in facebook by the end of 2016. The apk is still out there and I am pretty certain that it won't do much good. I have tested one version in Bluestacks so I know it will run can't pick up my cam on the PC. Tested others... they crash... and finally tested the first on a phone. It also crash. Maybe looking for a server that is no longer there. I don't think I am going to waste time on debugging it.
OpenFace looks promising so I will give that a try.
Tried Kairos https://www.kairos.com/demos emotion test. That worked pretty well. A bit slow and but can still be useful in some situations.
With regards to software FACET has gone (seems that it is one of the very few things that actually has left internet completely) and Emotient has been burried inside Apple. The only real alternative I know of is OpenFace https://github.com/TadasBaltrusaitis/OpenFace/wiki . My tests show that it is in some respects better than Emotient used to be and in some weaker. PS the latest version at the moment is https://github.com/TadasBaltrusaitis/OpenFace/releases/download/OpenFace_2.0.6/OpenFace_2.0.6_win_x64.zip despite it is not the one on the wikipage.
But Facereader isn't free - and besides when I last tested it against Emotient Noldus really didn't perform very well. They may have improved as it is about 3 years since I did that test.
If you look to the right at https://github.com/TadasBaltrusaitis/OpenFace/wiki you will be able to find instruction.. well if you are not on a mac. If you are your have posibilities, but my first choice would be to leave mac behind.
