Does anybody have protocols for doing FISH on marine algae?

I was trying to use FISH to localize bacteria in marine algae samples. The samples were embedded in OCT and then gone through thin sectioning. But it seems that even DAPI can not stain the samples. I got no signal at all from the DAPI. FISH probe did not work either. Does anybody ever experience this kind of problem of before?
