Why green algae only? Other algal groups are prpbably presented among fossil Mezosoic cmmunities as well. I warmly recommend: Hilda Canter-Lund & John WG Lund 1995, "Freshwater Algae Their microscopic world explored"; Frantisek Hindak, 2008, Atlas of Cyanophytes. There are many others.

When I was a grad student in Richard Starr's phycology course at Univ. Texas, we used 'Intro to Algae' by Harold Bold and Michael Wynne. It was a pretty comprehensive book--and Harold Bold was a morphologist--so it contains a lot of algal morphology.

1. There is a good overview paper:

2. I would recommend browsing the old (and new) volumes of the series "Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa" to get a pictorial overview of morphologies. See the list of volumes here:

3. There is a one-volume key of freshwater algae with very numerous line drawings. It is in Polish, but the nomenclature is in Latin:
