What is the the specific marker for neutrophils?
Several literature documented that the best marker for human neutrophils for immunohistochemistry is anti-human neutrophil elastase. I was trying to stain Neutrophils and Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in paraffin embedded placental tissue to looking at NETs . I have tried mouse anti-human neutrophil elastase (ELA2 ab R&D system ) immunohistochemistry staining. But I got all of the leukocytes in the intervilous space in most of the placental tissue stained and i got confused that weather all the stained cells are neutrophils or other leukocytes are positive for elastase
In human blood neutrophils represent around 60% of the total number of leukocytes. I won't be surprised if in such a blood-perfused site you find many neutrophils. Neutrophil elastase staining is pretty specific and reliable.

You may try to stain myeloperoxidase (MPO) (one of the key markers of neutrophils). It is abundantly present in neutrophils and it is easy to work with.

Gr-1, Ly6g, elastase could serve as neutrophile markers by FACS or imaging.
cd15 and cd16 are good marker for human neutrophils.
cd11b and Ly6g are good marker for mouse neutrophils.

What is your opinion to use CD33 and, myeloperoxidase as markers.
....as mentioned by Dr Sourbh Garg (see above) using two markers (e.g. extracellular and intracellular one) to characterize your cells is always a good idea. If you expect any activation of neutrophils in your samples, using CD66 as a marker may be a good choice, as well (in addition to MPO or elastase immunostaining).
