Michael Uebel - thank you for the reference. I found it helpful and it led to others - it will take me some time to work through as I continue my research. I wonder what your thoughts are of Arendt's work as I find her thinking much more compelling.

Do I understand it yet is another matter - I am trying to educated myself to a place of understanding and what I am suggesting is that he needs to be read, not because he is right but so we understand how we have inherited today's thinking and question this thinking - particularly as his thread of anti-semitism is being reawakened. His work needs to be confronted - our thinking needs to be confronted if we are are to embrace plurality. I am disturbed that critical design is not being critical enough of his ideas.

I am a new academic, I do not pertain to being an expert, however, my own worldview encourages me to challenge this type of thinking and question if it is distorted. I personally find Arendt's work more compelling and I hope at the end of my PhD I could form a better argument to defend why.

Michael Uebel I wonder if her work became so much more compelling due to the romantic interaction with him? You started by saying "Our responses to Heidegger's Nazi affiliations fail to come to terms with central ambiguities in his philosophical responses, both early and late" - I am not certain what exactly that means - could you help me to understand? (I could see it was a quote from the work you referred me to)

Also, I can't help but think that her work is so good as a result of and in response to his - her ability to think independently separating herself from schools of thought or ideology which he couldn't? And most importantly that she could identify the failings of philosophy (perhaps that of Heidegger?) that dwell in thought - withdrawn from the reality of the world - Arendt understands a plurality to the world - she returns to engage with things as they actually are....

I would welcome any other key literature you may point me to - I am re reading "The Human Condition" now but my main goal is to be able to justify why I feel that we should be moving on from Heidegger in critical design and perhaps point to Arendt's work as a more pluralistic and inclusive worldview to aspire to.

What is your reason to believe that Heidegger's worldview was facist?

Is it because of his poetry?

Is it because of his aesthetic theory?

Or is it because of his uniform?

should it be better for your study to focus on Arendt and drop Heidegger?

Willy LJ Van Buggenhout the problematic features of Heidegger's thought and his deplorable political activity contribute to my judgement that his worldview was facist.

He was responsible for illuminating what was meaningful to him and his association with the nazi's; "being" part of the whole nazi system intellectually, in combination with, the fact he never repented after the war leave me uncomfortable with this worldview of his. Whilst there can be no doubt of his significance, Arendt's aesthetics are much more appealing to me.

This sums it up nicely for me:
