Do you use the survey of individualist and collectivist data in your research on teacher education? I would like to investigate the relation of the teaching approach to these variables.
I think it is a good idea to conduct an individualist vs. collectivist survey of your students to know where they stand on this scheme. I did it myself recently with my students on a 5-point scale questionnaire about "How to get an A in a course". I use internalist and externalist, instead, because these are less culturally biased.
I believe it depends on the number of students. I would suggest collectivist approach for larger groups. It could be possible to perform research of the same group through several years, or to perform analysis of different groups (maybe differentiating on one characteristic) for the same course. At the same time, it would be useful to leave some open question for comments in order receive constructive suggestions for improvement. It could be combined with individualist approach using qualitative analysis, but the question is how these individuals are selected.
Thank you for your help and support. Sampling is a situation that needs to be considered. I want to investigate whether our teaching behavior depends on whether we are collectivists or individualists. I think this is the reason why we cannot apply our teaching beliefs. Regards,
