No evidence... just following routine hospital protocols... but yes there is a need for generating an evidence and I think we all know its gonna tilt in favor of NO antibiotics at least for routine non complicated cases ;)
Not in elective cholecystectomy. Only in symptomatic cholecystitis or in immunosuppressed patients. Single-shot aminopenicillin or ciprofloxacin.
The survey is still available it any one would like to air their views on antibiotics in cholecystectomy to help design an RCT.......
