There is a whole body of literature referred to as ethnography and has primarily been the efforts of cultural anthropologists 19th century. There have been qualitative studies focusing on intercultural research Including but limited to, transcultural social psychology, multicultural counselling and psychotherapy, communication studies, psychosocial acculturation, and business.

Absolutely, language can be the only barrier which can be resolved by setting a medium of instruction

You can use the grounded theory approach if you want to get the perspectives of people living in the two countries. Even ethnography is another good alternative. based on interviews you can capture similarities and differences in the culture of the two countries

There is no reason why you could not use qualitative methodology in an intercultural context. Beforehand, il is recommanded to master the language and the social codes of each culture. Observations, interviews, focus groups, case study are possible...

Yes, of course! You can go qualitative on this. You can conduct comparative multi-ethnographic study, which of course, is qualitative. It can be counter-cultural or multi-cultural. Depending on how much time you have for the investigation, you could make it a longitudinal study to guarantee the quality.

The choice of methodology os depending on the research question in the study and the kind of knowledge and understanding you are seeking. I would do a qualitative cross-cultural study if the purpose was to understand a phenomenon in different cultures on a more profound level.

Your question is too broad, and the general answer is YES, you can use qualitative methods for researching cultural differences.

Depending on your experience with qualitative methods you can use some easier to implement method such as General Inductive Approach

You should define your research objective more precisely, and define some keywords for searching literature. With clearly defined objective you can search for literature at Google scholar for the beginning, and later digital libraries of more focused publishers such as SAGE, Wiley or ScienceDirect.
