Recently I received one master thesis on Six Sigma. It was referred to me for assessing the validity of the reviewer comments. The student raised some questions on the review comments and quality of review. I have gone through the thesis and the review comments and found;
1. There are some questions on six sigma terminology which shows the reviewer is not aware of the subject in detail
2. The reviewer is not familiar about the Software development process, still provided feedback
3. The reviewer had lot of questions on basic quality tools and statistical tests, this is not expected from a reviewer of this subject
I found most of these comments are irrelevant with respect to the thesis submitted by the student.
So, I am requesting you to provide your thoughts on this to make the review process more effective.

We have adopted this practice.
The reviewer is selected from among scientists who work in this field of knowledge. Doctors of sciences are selected. Moreover, they look for the reviewer to have articles in Scopus WoS on the research topic over the past 5 years.
The dissertation author and reviewer should not be co-authors on articles (for the entire period of his scientific career). This is in our country. Other country may have different requirements.

Many might think that fundamental and basic knowledge is a must if a reviewer reviews a certain thesis. In my opinion, it is not enough. The reviewer should hold necessary enough knowledge and skills to be able to provide objective and analytical feedback and suggestions. A critical approach can not be achieved if a reviewer does not hold any solid knowledge and skills.

Shirshendu Roy , yes I agree with you on the importance of having both internal and external reviewers with specialties in the thesis field, at times, unfortunately, these are brought according to the supervisors' relations, that's why some of them may not be fully aware about the topic of the thesis.
