When people get to the point that Islamic Ethics are applied practically, their life will be better and the need to legislate such laws will be insignificant.
Yes. The problem is a religious language which encourage violence against women and patriarchy. Not only women of course. It is very problematic how faith influence other area of life. Christian church still struggle to change view about domestic abuse but it gets better. It depends on who influence law and how.
First there must be more freedom in the marriage, then there will be less tension and women need the same freedom than men this is evident. But what do we see: in Islam countries only men are sitting on terraces, women at home. they can't even take a taxi with a male driver and so on. Women have to be conscient about that situation.
At the other side also in the west there is violence against women in marriage because freedom is also diminished as 20 years ago. Everything is bending to the right wing, before it was more left. In the west as least it is forbidden.
