English language learners at both graduate and undergraduate university levels are struggling when assigned a written work. They feel that professors are grading their work in the same way as English native speakers. What do you expect, as a professor, from an ELL's written assignment? Are their any considerations that should be given to ELL's when grading their written work? Should ELL's and English native speakers be treated equally?
If you decide to study in another country you do that for a (good) reason.
The host university should provide accommodations for foreign students to learn language and (academic) costumes (at least if the host is actively recruiting abroad). But once an 'adjustment period' has passed they should be treated

Thanks for your comment. But do you expect ELL's to reach the same level of proficiency and competency as that of a native English language speaker? We know that the standardized tests scores of EL proficiency (TOEFL and IELTS) varies from a one universty yo another. So do these tests really measure the proficiency in which if they were applied for native speakers would have the same outcomes. (i.e. should a native English speaker achieve the same result as an ELL? If not. So why would they be treated equally?
I strongly believe that if you award people the same diploma they should meet the same minimum standards.
Should the ELLs get the same proficiency in English as their peers? Most Likely not, because the standard, most likely, does not require perfect english (native speakers are also not perfect in the English language). But they should meet the same minimum requirements.
