Water resources are the significant part of the ecological cycle which empowers the survival of all living beings on the earth system. It plays a major role in the development of the agricultural and economic efficiency, however observed to be vastly reliant on the monsoon, climate change and variability, and hence found to be substantially varying. Do you feel that there urgency to give extra attention to water resources in the changing climate? What are new water resources opportunities and challenges?
Absolutely. Water will be the first resource that will become very scarce and expensive.
Without drinking water, humans cannot survive. It is time for researchers from various majors to unite to overcome this problem.
Future demand would be for clean water, clean air and agricultural food produce. Due to heavy unplanned urbanization specially in developing countries like India, ground water level is poor, green cover has reduced and agricultural land is being used for unplanned development purposes. We still have time to take measures to ensure rain water harvesting is done in such a way to improve ground water table level. Similarly, improved agricultural techniques and practices are needed to cultivate more on less land and finally forest cover should be increased.

We do not currently pay the true cost of water. We need to introduce water conservation across all scales. You need to address water stressed areas, and we need to address areas of conflict where some are using water as a tool. Water, like food is wasted. In the developing countries, water is taken for granted. Until you measure your water consumption you will not conserve. I incorporate a water audit into my class so students understand their water usage. We need to understand that water is an energy and like all energies it need to be measured. Besides agriculture, industry use of water is a concern such as fracking. We also have to understand population increase on water. Over pumping of aquifers needs to be controlled. We need to address the concrete landscape and stop treating rainwater as wasted water. We need to stop throwing water away and recycle our wastewater. We have the technologies to reduce our water consumption. We need education to help those who do not understand how important water is for life. We need to get away from the notion that we have an abundance of water. The water is life and without it you have nothing.

I think yes, there is a lack of water in the world, but the industry's demand for water for production processes is increasing. Lack of water results in reduced crops, less food that will be more expensive.
The climate is changing, sea levels are rising due to the melting of glaciers.
Yes, definitely need to study availability of water resources, as they get scarce in some places due to climate changing. Take the USA for example, there is a chronic shortage that is going to continue in the future for sure. They might even need to "invade" Mexico over the Trump's Wall to get fresh water!! (if they let them in)
