It may be difficult for schools to resume immediately after the lockdown period as a result of the emphasis on social distancing rules, following the Covid-19 pandemic?
School will only resume after proper preventive measures have been put in place or when a permanent cure for the disease is produced, but there is high possibility that school will resume anytime soon.

I don't think it will be a quick return to schools, whatever the levels you might be looking at. Adequate measures should be taken into consideration and implemented across educational institutions, including equipping teachers and students with required resources. Not to mention that mass testing still needs to be completed too.
I think schools may not open soon after the lockdown period is over.
1. As social distancing is one of the most important measures to avoid spreading of Corona disease and the pandemic situation will continue as long as any vaccine or medicine is not discovered,so there is a very bleak chance to open the schools.
2. The children are more vulnerable to be infected by the virus due to their low body immunity. so, there may be restrictions for them to go to school.
3.Most of the schools have also been made quarantine centers or covid-19 hospitals, these cannot be opened now.
4. Now, more number of daily wage labourers are returning to their home states, they must be quarantined in the temporary centers especially in schools.
5. In most of the countries also the summer days have started, so the vacation time has already started due to schorching heat of the sun.
Due to the above reason, I could say that schools will not open now.
No.school may not open immediately. It may open for senior classess with proper social distancing rules but will be difficult to manage small kids and it is risky too.
No, I think a better school close until we found new vaccine. But will u send your children after lockdown? For me no, because Maslow Theory sad education not important if we have a crisis but safety, food is the number one important than education.
Until a vaccine is widely distributed at low to zero cost your class will not be the same.
It's likely that you don't have the space for proper social distancing to accommodate a full class size.
It's likely you don't have the cleaning staff or budget to clean surfaces constantly. Think of it. How many sets of hands will touch that fire resistant metal door every hour? That door, which cannot be propped open because of fire regulations. How many of those hands will touch their face? Or someone else's?
Will you have testing kit to use on students and staff regularly?
All of these things require changes to protocols. And trialing of those protocols. That takes time.
Hello, I am a music teacher. After reports that have been published about singing, I would say it is not a wise choice to re-open schools. Especially for singers who can create an invisible aerosol that is created from airways through the bronchioles and mucus membranes, through a wider opening and for a longer time. No, not a good idea.
NO! Things should not open until there is a uniform plan in place. The states that are opening under pressure, in my opinion, are making a mistake if they are not meeting the benchmarks of no new cases for the requisite amount of time. I understand to open economies, schools also need to be open but if it is not safe it will be like weight loss. You lose a lot of weight and then you go back to eating normally without monitoring your behavior you gain not only what was lost but more! The same thing with the virus, if we open too soon we will be addressing a rise in numbers of cases without the appropriate amount of PPE for the first responders, etc.
No, I don't think that schools will open immediately after lockdown is over, because social distancing is the most important measure to stop the spread of Corona virus . 2ndly, Children are more vulnerable to the disease due to their low body immunity.
3rdly, The children may not follow the social distancing norms as they are very friend loving in nature.
4thly, only the discover or usage of proper medicine for Corona virus is needed to push the social distancing precautions to a larger extent.
So, I think schools may not open immediately after the lockdown is over.
Schools could resume according to their desire especially private schools. However, it is not ideal at the very moment because some students might practice behaviors odd to covid-19 pandemic in and outside the campus. They could consider online classes in respond to pandemic.
Schools are to resume with social distancing measures. First, I suggest that every school make its own policy regarding the appropriate conditions of making social distance. Second, administration and professors should receive a special training focused on managing classes in respecting social distances. Finally, we must learn how to equip students to live in critical periods, for Covid19 will not be the last challenge.
Opinions from different University from different countries vary depending on the situation. Currently, online classes are being enhanced as well in terms of giving the students and faculty appropriate remote access to browse digital assets in the library. These measures have been done in compliance to the Enhanced Community Quarantine imposed by our government. Resumption of classes and opening of schools after lockdown should be carefully dealt with following strict implementation of guidelines and prepare students behavior in dealing with the NEW NORMAL conditions that will be experienced in this critical times. We should not be complacent and there is actually no telling that everything will be the same or short of saying NORMAL. The risk is still at hand and we have to be more responsible in constantly reminding ourselves to keep doing the usual practices of social distancing and hygienic by all means during lockdown.
I agree with Doris Yates . I also agree with a line in the plan for relaxing restrictions in the state of California: There will be no "normal" until a vaccine is widely available.
I agree to no "normal" until a vaccine is available. Folks in California especially southern California are pushing the envelope by not following the recommended shelter in place mandates, wearing of masks, and physical distancing. Unfortunately, I see our numbers rising before they get better due to the willfulness and selfishness of some of our state's residents. The sense of entitlement is even in surviving COVID 19! :( :(
Sincere gratitude dear Chinaza Godswill Awuchi for your answer. But please, do you think that online lectures amount to resumption especially for courses/schools whose curricula are practical/experimental/demonstration based? Your participation in the discussion is greatly valued.
Online teaching and learning due to Covid-19 lockdown is a way of keeping the students engaged with classes, to reduce the impact of this Covid-19 pandemic on academic calendar.
To carry on online teaching would be the best alternative for the next academic year at least till the year 2020 end. Schools opening on the basis of social distancing is an impossible exercise. Its difficult managing children and making them maintain social distancing. And if any one staff gets infected, a lot of vulnerable population would be at risk and reason for community transmission.
Its very true that psychologically kids may have a lot of set back but risk of life is of utmost priority to other aspects.
When they do, perhaps it would be a good idea that each class gets divided into two flows - half attending in the morning, the other half - in the afternoon, rotating on a monthly basis. There would be enough sitting space in-between students.
The system works well in foreign language-profiled high schools in my country, when there is no sufficient number of classrooms.
A problem to consider is that control over student movement and interaction is difficult between classes and after school. :)
I quite agree with Stephen I. Ternyik and Hima Bindu Ponnam . Children are the most vulnerable in the mix. They too can infect their parents at home, if exposed.
I believe that the experience of E-learning will be generalized, because it will be safe continuously, and we as scientists will develop it quickly and continuously. I believe that the research map and its interest will also change and turn to issues related to epidemics. And Covid- 19
In South Africa, it is intended to open on 1 June 2020 (for now). This is pending preventative measures and other factors as well. It will also follow a phased approach based on grades whereby two grades will return at a time. Grade 7 and Grade 12 will return first.

Of those of you that have responded do any of you teach science classes with labs? How have the labs been addressed? I have a student that will need to postpone her graduation a year because she is not able to do the labs associated with her biology class as we are engaged in the shelter in place!
Thanks for the follow-up question. In my institution, over 60% of curricula for all programmes are lab/workshop/practical/experiment based and can not be handled via the e-learning and virtual classroom platform as it stands. I believe that where such conditions exist, it may be difficult to resume academic programmes fully without incorporating the realities of these conditions in the planning; all other factors remaining constant. In all, your participation in the discussion is greatly valued.
Thanks for your response! Other than participating in discussions, how else might labs be addressed? I feel sorry for the students that have to extend their stay at the university to complete lab courses! Is this "corporate greed" or can we not find an alternative for the students?
I agree with you. An all inclusive consultation is necessary to ensure that no one is shortchanged and that standards are not compromised. Utmost care is imperative at this time so that the future of science and technical based education is protected. In the end, humanity will be at the receiving end of poor education.
According to UNESCO’s monitoring, 71 countries have already announced when schools will reopen. Out of these, 12 have reopened schools, 52 have set the date for reopening during this academic year and seven plan to reopen in the next one. The majority of countries – 128 - have not announced any dates yet.
well someone countries are reopening academic activities now despite that the disease is still spreading. Caution to abate the problem of contracting it should be put in place.
Watching people on local beaches and in other public areas, I would say not. Unfortunately, I've observed the herd mentality every day since phased in reopening. One person decides to be non-compliant and then you have four, and six, etc., etc. I believe that it is going to take a phasing in with tiered restrictions and smaller class sizes to maintain the safe environment that parents will be seeking.
