Based on the interruption of the educational process in many universities and schools around the world due to the Corona pandemic, do you think that educational curricula should be developed to be a mixture of traditional and electronic education? To prepare for any emergency that prevents students from going to their universities and schools.
From my point of view, e-learning alone ( i.e. distance learning) will not succeed without traditional face-to-face learning. Because e-learning hasn't achieved the desired aims or results, traditional learning is better. At least, the hybrid learning (i.e. blended learning) of both of them is better than the traditional one. This is especially true for the developing countries. But there are many stumbling blocks that limit the implementation of online-learning; let me address some of them:
- Many countries haven't pre-infrastructure to implement this trend of learning.
- No enough money to buy enough food and, in turn, to buy computers or good mobiles.
- There aren't enough trained personnel to conduct online teaching which is a core prerequisite.
- The cultural view of knowledge and learning hasn't reached an adequate level in these poor countries.
According to the aforementioned discussion, e-learning cannot be a substitute for face-to-face learning, it is complementary to classroom teaching.
In conclusion, it grieves me to say the following about this critical issue: there is still a long way to go for resource-deficient countries.
I cannot imagine that education not deploy in some aspects and parts the electronic tools. Regardless of the Coronavirus, such tools can reinforce the effects of learning on condition that it does not replace the teaching face to face with students, according to the humanistic theory of teaching and learning.
I believe it should. Ignoring the current epidemic, electronic media has been proven to improve students participation and motivate them during the teaching and learning process.
We know learning needs to continue to evolve and that technology and tools can help to enable that. Our world is becoming a place where we can rapidly learn anything, and in many fields our experience is only a small part of our ability to learn and achieve. The future of education is exciting and scary. Schools and education must evolve to embrace new learning styles and technologies that can captivate students, while concurrently maintaining integrity of the knowledge in areas like literature and history that help create well rounded people. That should really be at the core of our change and digital transformation efforts in education.
I have read all your contributions with great interest and approval. I add that time, the world, knowledge, skills and experiences, and everything in this world are far from stability. They all change according to time and as far as the world changes at large. We cannot stay fixed to traditional education. We have come a long way to reach the 21st century and there have been numerous new and updated experiences, skills, knowledge inc luding many other things and many changes on the way. Electronic education is just one of those things and is becoming more and more powerful each day. With that said, I totally agree that this is the perfect time to merge the two kinds of education. First and foremost is that, sometimes we come across situations that call for one of them (like in the coronavirus period) and we are prepared to switch over to electronic teaching and learning. I also think that situations, locations and facilities contribute to the decisions we make as to whether we mix the two kinds of education, or use one or the other. In concluding, despite the consquences, educational curricula should be developed to employ both traditional and electronic education in this century!

I think that the combination of traditional teaching and its electronic form is most advisable. It should be remembered, however, that the exclusive use of electronic forms in teaching poses a threat to broadly understood socialization processes and student-teacher relationships. A living example is discussed and seen in multiple literacies (also called new literacies or multi-literacies). Multiple literacies recognizes that there are many ways to relay and receive information, and students need to be proficient in each one ( Bales, 2020). The new forms of literacy needed in modern life are increasingly taken into account in the curriculum, in particular those related to new technologies such as digital literacy, information literacy, mass media literacy and social media literacy. Graziano (2003) added that the four competencies that compromise mulitple literacies are visual literacy, textual literacy, digital literacy, and technological literacy. We have no choice but to make sure educational curricula are developed to be a mixture of traditional and electronic education not only so that we are prepared for situations like the coronavirus pandemic but because of the many different modes in which information is relayed and recieved by our students in this changing world.

One thing that we cannot forget the traditional academic curriculum totally because that is the base for us. The modern electronic or digital education is also everybody is accepting the new things and very easy way of getting plenty of useful information at a point of time. The matter is that the students from Developing countries or Developed countries. How much the country is supporting including all categories of resources that the academic community will pursue as they want. It could be a mixture of both academic curriculum system will make perfect the academicians or students as well. The most logical way to develop education is to use traditional forms, along with the inclusion of elements of e-education, rather than creating an e-education system from scratch, as it seems to “innovators”. Those, evolution, not revolution. The goal of all this should not be ignored - the development of the quality of education, and not innovations per se. New teaching methods are a means, not an goal.
Under our current circumstances, we are learning that online, dynamic instruction is not an ancillary educational mode, but a necessity. At the college level, I am grateful to the Online Instruction Designers at the Bucks County Community College in Bucks County, PA. As a professor, I was offered the opportunity to become certified in online instruction , two years ago. At the onset of the current quarantine, I was able to transition my face-to-face classes, to online, almost seamlessly. I credit our OID team with preparing me for this process.

I agree that access to the internet, the availability of laptops and computers in students' homes for electronic education is compulsory. In the case of coronavirus, where electronic education is not possible, there are always other options besides the face to face traditional education. For example, teaching and learning can still happen through the print mode whereby, packages of lessons are prepared by the teachers for students to do at home. In my country that is what is happening. School students are working from home and will meet together to go through the work done after the situation is clear.

Yes, curricula must be developed to integrate traditional and electronic education, given the many advantages of integration, and to take into account the requirements of the current stage.
My experience says education curriculum is based on certain learning and child development principles. It also includes pedagogical processes to be adopted in the classroom. So, in my opinion, there is no need to prepare a mixture of traditional and electronic curriculum. Rather, there is a need to change in the teaching/pedagogical process. It may be shifted from traditional to electronic methods in this lockdown period due to the pandemic situation caused by Corona virus. But, electronic method of teaching may not be a substitue for traditional method in the poor countries having illiterate parents ,who are struggling for bread and butter everyday. There is no infrastructural facilities in many Government colleges and schools too.
