some experts express: boiling waters changes nitrate content of water to nitrite and increase nitrite content so people worried about this issue ,what's your opinion?
If a test shows that the nitrate level in your bore water is close to or above 50 mg/L you need to treat the water or use another water source. Common methods such as boiling and disinfection do not remove nitrates.Apr 1, 2022
This is an interesting question. In this reference (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9311093) higher concentrations of nitrate were reportedly boiled for up to 24 hours with no change in nitrite content, so this would seem to indicate that boiling of water with < 10 mg/L nitrate-N will not cause a violation of a nitrite-N standard of 1 mg/L. However, if too much water is boiled off, both nitrate and nitrite concentrations will of course increase. Best wishes,
