01 January 1970 17 10K Report

Lately, Chinese news media is all excited about Google's DeepMind's defeat of Korean Professional 9-dan Go player two matches in a row.  This is a BIG deal since Go/围棋/Baduk is an ancient board game that used to have the appearance to be a non-trivial problem for machine simulation of its implicit 'winning' strategy.

Of course, there were many 'rule' changes from old days to modern days about how competitions are administered among human players.

I, for one, am looking forward to new challenges opening up by the joining of AI engine at GO games.  I expect to see many amateur go players challenging professional go players with the help of AI engine.  Or shall we say the 'professional go player' is merged with programmers at large?

It was rumored that the next target for DeepMinds application would be Healthcare expert system.  I am wondering if and how IT can be used to detect differential cost-basis among Traditional Chinese Medicine vs. Western practices.
