Hugo Chavez was a Venezuelan politician who served as the President of Venezuela from 1999 to 2013. During his rule, he sold oil to Cuba and resisted efforts to stop narcotic trafficking in Columbia, and subsequently bitter relations with United States of America.

Hugo Chávez, in full Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, (born July 28, 1954, Sabaneta, Barinas, Venezuela—died March 5, 2013, Caracas), Venezuelan politician who was president of Venezuela (1999–2013).
I had the opportunity to share many issues with President Chávez. We did not always agree, but always enjoy the discussion. Chavez was not easy, with a strong personality, convinced of his beliefs, he consulted books and people a lot to reach his conclusions. He knew all the topics, cited authors and always had a clear and convincing answer.
I miss Chavez very much. On the day of his physical disappearance, everyone in the house cried inconsolably. It was a long time before we could remember it without breaking our voice and even today I have to make an enormous effort so that it does not happen to me.
200 years ago, Simón Bolívar defeated the Spanish empire. As a consequence, Venezuela was economically destroyed.
Simón Bolívar died in destitution, insulted by his enemies and persecuted by the new empire that was already glimpsed.
The same has happened and will happen with Hugo Chavez. He will eventually be recognized as the successor of Bolívar.
