Do you know the urban growth scenario indicators?

I'm looking for simple indicators for modeling of urban growth. I assume the three scenarios: the intensive growth, the sustainable and an extensive one. I need some simple indicator which linking the area increase with the scenario. Is it any literature examples where the indicator is not a description but the number or any kind of countable form?
