Hi. My computer delivered your interesting new manuscript to my attention. I am interested of course with the association with telomere length. Have you sequenced the gene? If so, have you looked for the range of organisms that have orthologs or homologs? Or, alternatively, have you looked for the activity of the protein in other systems? I have not fully finished your manuscript so all these questions may be answered!

Hi Art,
Yes, the gene is C7ORF49. It has 3 isoforms, with CYREN 1 and 2 having the NHEJ suppressing activity. We have found it by sequence down to zebrafish, but have not done activity assays in other systems than human. I wonder whether there is a yeast orthodox.
