At Univ. G. d'Annunzio, Pescara (Italy), we have been carrying out research and teaching on Industrial Ecology issues for about 15 years (personally, I have been involved in research and teaching on environmental management and related issues for longer). More specifically, as regards your question, we have also been carrying out research on life cycle thinking methodologies and tools (Life Cycle Assessment and related simplified tools) and their implementation to the wine industry.
Many thanks for your kind answer, Prof. Raggi. I knew you in Florence, last juine, for the LCA basic course in which you was teacher in some lections. I'm finishing my PhD who is focused on sustainability in the wine sector. My research worked on enlarging grape use in order to create new connection among companies of the same area. The idea derived by surplus in the cellar, so (surplus=product without market= inefficiency= waste) upstream redesign the grape use shifting a part of it for new uses (for us fruit juice production). In this framework, I compared the linear model (growing grape just for wine) and the complex (enlarged with new uses...). More complex=like in nature in the ecosystem where connection ensures resiliency....
This topic is very exciting for me and it is the kind of sustainability I would like to carry on. I propose to you to keep our contact, also because in the wine sector there is so much work to do, in my opinion. What do you think on this? Thanks!
your research project actually seems stimulating. I would be grateful if you could keep me updated. If you want, we can discuss on it (who is your PhD supervisor?)Let us keep in contact. (you can also reach me via email)
