I am going to work on "effect of civilization and urban development on urban runoff" and release a paper. Do you have any suggestion or do you like to join?
It is really good idea of research and I would suggest to measure the amount of water harvesting especially in dry and semi dry areas or the areas precipitations lower than 600 mm per year, from the other point of view the effect of runoff on ground deformation if there is any kind of relationship.
It is an excellent question and not only involves engineering but also our philosophy of living. I shall be happy to join. We may start from (a) Personal Hygiene (b) Lifestyle (c) Recycling of Waste water and (b) Runoff due to precipitation carrying urban waste.
Best wishes and have a good day. My E-Mail ID is : [email protected],
Thank you so much for attending and responding. As you mentioned it should be considered several issues which are influenced by growth of urbanization and expanding urban boundaries (that is much faster than its population growth and
infrastructure facilities development ratio). It would be great pleasure to discuss more and also work with you. I will send an email to you.

Thanks for your response. very nice idea, you know urban runoff is one of the most serious challenges specially in mega cities located in arid or semi arid areas. Tehran is an example that is involved urban flooding as a result of extreme rainfall. concentrations of impervious surfaces and blocking of drains and culverts, Failure in Water Infrastructure and etc may intensify the risk of flooding in urban areas (Tehran). Also, climate change can play an important role.regarding ground deformation, i think it could be a relationship between runoff and erosion and also ground deformation (It is worth to study).
Very interesting topic. In fact there had been number of (but limited) studies done on this line. Therefore you might have to carefully chose which aspect of civilization to focus. Say governance, culture, perceptions, behavioral patterns etc. As others have commented it'll be interesting to combine social, hydrological and land-cover parameters, and use a mixed method approach.
I really like consider several parameters because I think It helps to achieve more exact results. So, Please let me know if you have any other suggestion.
