Hello, our lab has been culturing anaerobic bacteria for almost a year. We incubate using anaerobic jar but not working with anaerobic chamber. We use the same medium and try to create the culture condition as proper as suggested by the company. However, until now we still could not find the best condition for our bacteria. Bacteria growth slowly (~7 days) and the colony cultured in agar is very tiny. Any tips or suggestion for us? Thank you.

It may be that nothing is wrong, 7 days to see colonies for some anaerobic bacteria is not necessarily that slow. Some bacteria take even longer. So you should be sure things are optimal as best as you can determine but also realize this may just reflect the natural cell division rate .

Michael J. Benedik Thanks for your answer. Last time we cultured the bacteria and incubate it longer up to 14 days. We observed it every day without opening the gas pack, but unfortunately the agar is broken and dried. We are trying to adjust the medium now. Hopefully it will work well.
