Hi Fevziye, I have some practice doing Environmental impact assessment in Colombia and Peru, especially for physical-chemical analysis in air (air quality, and emissions), water and also a little one in sediments. What type of support do you need?
Specific expectations may vary. In the basic sense, a interdisiplinary team of resource professionals would conduct this assessment, in my experience relative to management of public national forest lands. My expertise is primarily water, but have been involved with hundreds of analyses, commenting on or at times responsibility for various other resources also as a team member. In the soil and water guidance (uploaded into Researchgate ~2004), the preface has s summary of the planning and environmental analysis process we use based on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The planning and NEPA analysis process has changed some since this Regional Guide relative to soil and water conservation practices was developed in order to involve the public more for review and commenting, collaboration. I uploaded also a more recent example of an EIS (2013). I am sure there are a huge number of EISs or other types of environmental analyses available on the internet. However, the process required in your country, agency or company could be different. Nonetheless, sometimes an example can be helpful as I am sure there is a substantial variation on the approach of analyzing effects, what is required pertaining to laws and regulations, common practices, etc.
right William, the structure and content of the EIA depends of the particular conditions of the project, the country, regulatory frameworks and also if the study will consider some international guidance too (i.e. IFC standards and specific guidelines up to the type of economic activity for the project).
Yes, my experience is in environmental impacts of disasters and conflict. The process is similar, but not so intensive as would be done for a big project.
There are several articles describing methods, techniques, and examples of Environmental Impact Assessment. You can find them at Environmental Impact Assessment Review, and Impact Assessment and Project Appraisal journals, also in International Association of Impact Assessment (IAIA) website. It would be interesting if you be more specific on the type of EIA you are looking for, I mean the type of Project you are targeting. Good luck.
What Claudia wrote is very true. From your question, it is obvious that you realize EIA is a "practice" as you call it... so really it's an applied application on specific projects, & its detai;s would certainly vary with the type of project & nature of work required.
