Some people continue working (reading articles, working on a paper or a research project) during their holiday time. On the other hand, some people think that they need to take a rest and they just stop working during their holiday time.

The Fourth Biblical Commandments says to observe the Sabbath, keep it holy, and imitate God, Who rested on the seventh day after starting creation. Aristotle regarded recreation as rest and restoration of energies for labor. As against biblical and Aristotelian tradition, I have never drawn a clear line between research time and holiday time. This is because I research in the Humanities, always a joy from the standpoint of subject matter. At the maximum, I have devoted 95 hours a week to working, primarily research at home. So, yes, I work during holiday time. Society makes holidays, but I mostly make my own schedule. Of course the body also requires some time for exercise amidst intense mental work.
Yes sure, I continue doing research during holidays and even during feasts. We are always on call.
I always read and reply work e-mails on holidays but I usually try not to work on my articles or lecture slides during this time: after holidays I can usually work much faster and get more ideas, so, I will actually not lose much time.
Yes. Research is a continuing process. I continue even during holidays but may not be when on vacation away from the University. It is always on your mind. It depends upon the requirement. So always be on the lookout and you never know when ideas will crop up to help to further the progress.

Dear Jesus! This is way of life: we cannot stop ding research. This is the most basic difference between "professionals" and "researchers". The former do have holidays and break off with their activities. Researchers are sort of maniacs that still work in the corners, at night, under the umbrellas, and the like in holidays. Reading, doing math, simulating, exchanging e.mails, ant the like.
It seems holidays are best time for researcher to sum up and organize his/her research. Sometimes this is the only time to do it. And look for new ideas.
To break in more difficult than continue. Research is a mental siege, and not everyone can afford to resist.
However, smartphones are making people crazy. Marx, Engels and Sorel are probably turning in their graves.

During holiday I have more time to spent on research
As Research is a continuous process i do research work during holidays but not on full time. I enjoy for some time, spend time with parents, friends and also for research work. During regular days i fully concentrate on the Research as a full time research base.....
I continue research all year round. I get my best work done during those long stretches of time that isn't broken up by meetings, classes, and students. That said, I don't work FULL-TIME when my kids are off from school. I try to stick to maybe 2 or 3 full time consecutive days.
I think holiday time for me is good time to think solely and have great reflexive horizon. So it is the best time to create and bring up new ideas. Most good research start with an idea that is innovative to be searched. Yes I do in my holiday far from any workload interruptions.
I can think and read at any time and any place, e.g. in a garden, during a walk, in front of a television... These activities belong to research or not?
I do not work on my research during the holidays at all. I like to read but nothing work related. Holidays are family time.
