Yes, except the parent is a novice, too close to the child and the teacher is the detached professional. I know a home teacher who did not diagnose a syndrome in her own child, when it was obvious to me, a non-medical doctor!
yes.A teacher who cares to educate and develop skills to build proficiency and mastery like a parent does help facilitate childs development.A teacher as well as a parent who does not interact and develop a bond wth the child dont contribute to this process
When a student recognizes their teacher as a 'critical friend', then the relationship can be as ( or more) valuable in their development as a parent relationship. As Ian says, the distance can be a valuable part of the relationship.
Teacher and Parents both plays the important role in person's life and they both also play the different role. For a child mother is always the first teacher and mother knows everything about the child. But when the turn comes to professional teacher or school teacher then parents are required to respect their observations and views about their child. It may be possible that there is something going wrong in childs life and parents are overlooking it due their busy schedule (in case, both are working). If it is so then parents must take the feedback of their child from the teachers and from the persons where his/her child spend a more time.
Every teacher is committed to their job and responsibility thats why he/she is a teacher. So, it is uselees to use the word commitment for any teacher. Both plays the important role in the development of child's life but differently.
