in my opinion, directly no because the shape of the resin after performing mechanical stirring will be mixed up and maybe it gets a circular shape but then we can modify the shape ( by some chemical processes) to obtain a honeycomb structure. I would like to know what do you think.
The honeycomb (HC) structures and rigid polyurethane (PUR) foams are widely used in aerospace and marine industry as a core of sandwich composite structures For the filling of the HC, two types of PU foams are manufactured
1. unreinforced PU (UR/PU) foam
2. PU foam reinforced (GR/PU) with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) flakes
Foam materials exhibit a unique combination of properties that includes low density, low thermal conductivity, excellent insulation, and mechanical properties.Composite polystyrene foam with a honeycomb-like barrier structure was processed from an expandable aqueous suspension. Optical observations confirmed the formation of such a unique structure that encapsulates each expanded polystyrene microsphere in the resulting foam. The suspension viscosity was found to highly influence the foam morphology. Results from mechanical tests showed that the existence of the barrier structure can considerably improve the mechanical performance of the composite foam.
