Vector analysis and vector calculus is part of the mathematical subjects that are typically taught to students at surveying and Geomatics at a BSc level. By looking deep to vector analysis, particularly, from the stand point of 3D points that are typically obtained from lidar and Photogrammetric systems, we can observe that the information extraction from these data sources are deeply embedded in different aspects of vector analysis and vector calculus. Although several several algorithms were developed to handle the information extraction from these data sources, a formal exposure to a deep dose of vector analysis and vector calculus will enhance the comprehension of these algorithms and it will lead to a deeper understanding to develop more intelligent algorithms for information extraction. A deep dose of Vector analysis and vector calculus will give a more structured and principled approach for these types of data. Your comments are highly appreciated.
