I am a beginner in maintaining MIN6 and Beta TC6 cells. I am curious regarding the need for using BME in the culture media for maintaining the cells.

I started working with the Beta TC6 cell line but I am struggling to culture these cells.
Since you are using these cells. Could you tell me if you encountered any problems while working with beta tc6 cells? If you succeded on culturing these cells, could you tell how did you grow these cells?
I am very frustrated at the moment, your input would really help me.
Ps: I am following exactly the ATCC protocol, of which I bought their advised cell media with low bicarbonate content and I am culturing on Corning cell binding flasks.
The doubling time on the ATCC protocol is not happening, these cells take up to one month to actually awake from their dorment state, which they appear to be rounded and very, very tiny.
