I too receive many such invitations as they won't get papers forget about quality papers. They praise us such that we can fall prey to them. But intelligent people just reject their offer outrightly knowing their nefarious intentions and ulterior motives. We should get perturbed by such happenings and should carry on our work with positive mind and energy.

It is very difficult to be aware of all predatory publishers. The problem is becoming bigger and bigger.

Presumably because they are too new in the field of publishing this publisher “Uniscience Publishers LLC)” cannot be found in the Beall’s list.

However I expect they will be included soon, since there are a number of red flags:

-Origin of location is unclear. According to:

One can read: “The Registered Agent on file for this company is Business Filings International, Inc. and is located at 1908 Thomes Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001. The company's principal address is #52 2nd Floor 4th Main Road Jai Bheema Nagar Btm 1st Stage Madiwala Post, Bangalore 56006 and its mailing address is #52 2nd Floor 4th Main Road Jai Bheema Nagar Btm 1st Stage Madiwala Post, Bangalore 56006, India.”

-For example publishing in journals like “Gynecology and Women’s Health Care – Guidelines” and “Materials Chemistry Scientific Research” requires a substantial publication charge (certainly for a not established journal) of $799. They state: “If an author withdraws manuscript after a 2 days, then he/she will be asked to pay partial processing fee…. We ask authors to pay 20% of the original article processing fee in case of withdrawal”.

-For example journals like “International Journal of Theoretical & Computational Physics – Guidelines” and “Journal of Bioscience & Biomedical Engineering” state that there is an article processing fee without mentioning how much. So unclear about costs.

-Unrealistic (short) peer review, they state “Manuscripts peer review process is completed (which can often happen within a 2 days)”

-Use of bombastic language: “Uniscience Publishers are making the right use of scientific research and facts from our leading-edge peer reviewed, ….with the help of thousands of editorial members and excellent reviewers and numerous scientific associations in medical, clinical…. We are one of the prominent Open Access chronicle publishers….We are one of the pioneering publishers following the finest procedures….”. Facts are the contrary: Leading edge peer review seems to be 2 days…, thousands of editorial members means less than 10 members in the editorial board of each journal without a ‘real’ editor, numerous scientific associations in…the real thing is they (cannot) mention a single one and prominent publisher is simply not true because they are obviously just starting.

So I would say well spotted. This looks like a publisher one should avoid and shows quite some characteristics of a predatory publisher.

It is difficult to know how predatory a magazine is, in fact, the person paying or meeting someone on the magazine's editorial board may publish a bad article. This is the problem, the commercialization of science, corporatism in the academic world. Today, about a quarter of the number of open access journals is considered predatory. Until I put that it can be true. It's relative! Even so, some magazines are seen as predatory. A librarian from the University of Colorado (Denver, United States), Jeffrey Beall, became a researcher in the area and put together a list of predatory journals from different areas of knowledge that are suspicious about his editorial board composition, academic qualification, peer review and ethical commitment. Normally, these journals are also not indexed, as they do not meet the mandatory criteria of the indexers. Another difference from predatory journals is the short time it takes to analyze and accept articles, due to the less selective and rigorous process.

I got an invitation from JOURNAL OF PSYCHIATRY AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES, part of this publisher today. I tried to check the editorial board and none of the links worked. I then took a look at the previous publications and found the duration between receiving and accepting manuscripts ranged from 1 to 3 months. A bit suspicious. And then, I found the current edition was dated in 2018. This is totally weird.
