Dear Simonetta, rather than talking about how many ships can theoretically enter the port of Ravenna, it seems appropriate to summarize what is the Adriatic cruise market that is characterized by a quasi-monopoly position in Venice with regard to home-port functions. It is therefore very probable that Ravenna, to be included in a cruise circuit, must first of all be compared with the maximum dimensions of Venice which currently for the maximum length are 340 meters compared to the 280 of Ravenna (not to mention also the draft for the which a new dredging campaign will be launched soon). In Venice today there are several ships that are between 280 and 295 meters long, although some companies operate both with large and small ships (e.g. Costa Cruises, MSC, P&O Cruises, Norwegian, Celebrity). The large ships of Venice cannot moor in Ravenna.
As far as Venice is concerned, it is also necessary to remember the limit that the cruise companies have given themselves for the transit on the Giudecca Canal which further decreases the size of the ships that circulate in the Adriatic.
