Generally, technology is developed to help human to survive. However, experiences showed that problems also follow the technology; such as ethical or moral ones. It is interesting, that initially we need the technology in order to help us, but later we may or should abandon this technology.
Social entrepreneurs for instance use technology too for social impact which can also be seen as moral impact.
So another great question and avenue would be to consider and ask how technology can increase and improve morals and ethics. It is merely a matter of focus.
One of the main problem encountered with the use of new technologies ifs that many firms (particularly in the gig economy) do not want to ,consider ethical problems, in particular when they are connected to working conditions. It's a very interesting question. Thank you. I suspect there's no necessary reason why new technology should cause moral/ethical problems. If there was, we'd be better at spotting the problems before they became pressing.
So it looks like the problem is contingent. But on what? The ability of the human mind to pursue perverted ends? Maybe. Get rich quick schemes. The desire to harm others. Testing your capacities against mainstream rules and barriers. All sorts of things.
I suspect these things don't become obvious until new technology has settled into it's new role(s). But then the game is on.
