As we know, at high energies, both the Fermi-Dirac distribution and Bose-Einstein distribution convert into Maxwellian distribution function. My question is that do Maxwellian distribution exist in early universe particularly in Quark Gluon Plasmas (QGP) where energy is much higher?
@ Hashim, The Maxwell distribution is the low-temperature limiting case of both distribution (BE and FD), and the distribution of choice for most of cosmology. If you read the standard books on Cosmology such as by Dodelson, then you will find, Maxwell distribution is used in the Saha ionization formula, which is later used to estimate CMBR spectrum. The whole idea is that MB distribution keeps the mathematics simple without compromising much on the physics. However it is always advisable to use the appropriate distribution to obtain exact results. This is particularly the case of CMBR estimation in which radiation and matter decouple at around 3000 K.
But in QGP where temperature is >> 3000 K, I guess using the MB distribution could leads to incorrect results. Use BE or FD as the case may be.
